How to Download GIFs from Google Images (Get the Real File URL)

Published: 2026-04-17

Google Images often shows previews and redirect links. This guide helps you find the direct .gif URL so your download works.

When you click a GIF in Google Images, you may copy a redirect or a preview URL—not the real GIF file. For reliable downloads, you need the direct URL (ideally ending with .gif).

Steps (works most of the time)

  1. Click the GIF result and open the hosting page.
  2. Right-click the GIF and choose “Open image in new tab”.
  3. Copy the URL. If it’s a direct .gif link, paste it into GIF Downloader.

If you can’t get a direct file URL

Use webpage extraction: paste the hosting page URL into GIF Downloader and select Extract from Webpage.
